Legal Assistant – Corporate Commercial | Toronto ON

Our client is looking for an experienced legal assistant to join their prestigious firm. This position will be working closely with one Partner in the Corporate Commercial group and is ideal for someone who has experience running all aspects of a busy practice. This role would be well suited for someone who has good proofreading skills as well as strong communication and attention-to-detail.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Experience or familiarity with transactional documents relating to corporate transactions
  • Knowledge of corporate and minute book documents
  • Initial preparation for vaulting of Wills, POA’s and other Estate Documents
  • Proofreading and checking all documents
  • Diarize and track deadlines
  • Compile record books
  • Complete CPSO renewals
  • Handle all administrative details with respect to accounting, expenses, opening and closing files, docketing, billing, etc.
  • Accountable for all work assigned
  • Takes initiative

Core Skills & Requirements:

  • Minimum five years’ previous experience as a Corporate legal assistant
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant and/or Law Clerk program
  • Handle time pressure and stress of multiple demands
  • Microsoft 365 suite of Applications
  • Strong technical skills with creating, numbering, styling and rebuilding documents
  • Familiarity with iManage or a document management system
  • Experience using DocuSign would be an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Organized, resourceful, and detailed
