Senior Human Resource Advisor – Professional Services | Toronto ON

In this Human Resources Generalist position you will play a critical role in the firms recruitment efforts, employee relations, staff performance and health and wellness initiatives among other responsibilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional judgement, attention to detail be able to develop, maintain and tactfully work with firm members at all levels.

Summary of Responsibilities: 

Staff Recruitment:

  • Lead the recruitment process for full-time, part-time, contract, field placement and temporary employees
  • Meet with hiring manager(s) to identify requirements and prepare job description
  • Identify and implement strategic and cost effective recruitment channels and methods
  • Identify and screen applicants and Administer assessments to potential candidates
  • Facilitate selection process with hiring manager
  • Conduct reference checks and identify terms for letters of employment
  • Facilitate onboarding by identifying mentors, conducting firm orientation, facilities set-up, arrange for training, track probation periods and monitoring performance progress
  • Track and maintain various statistical records

Employee Relations:

  • First line of contact for staff members who may have work or personal related concerns. Identify possible solutions and follow-up as necessary
  • Maintain a high level of visibility and an approachable image
  • Effectively interpret, communicate and apply firm policies to ensure consistency
  • Conduct exit interviews

Events:

  • Assist in the planning and executing of all firm staff events and activities
  • Community Relations:
  • Identify, manage and execute various community initiatives that allow A & B to give back
  • Work with Community Colleges to support their Legal Assistant, Law Clerk and Paralegal programs
  • Attend career fairs and speak at college recruiting/ information events (virtually and in-person when it is safe to do so)

Health & Wellness:

  • Along with the team, identify, manage and execute of a variety health and wellness initiatives

Performance:

  • Manage staff performance on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with the annual performance review process
  • Assist with a variety of special tasks, administration and projects as assigned

Core Skills & Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years’ working experience in a related or similar role, preferably with a law firm or other professional services environment
  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in Human Resources
  • Treat sensitive and confidential matters with discretion at all times
  • Ability to work occasional overtime
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to work sensitively, professionally and tactfully with people at all levels
  • Proficient with MS Office 365
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Good judgement and decision making
  • Organized, resourceful, and detailed
