Legal Assistant – Litigation | Toronto ON

Our client is recruiting for a litigation assistant who has an interest in tax litigation to assist with three busy partners.  The successful candidate will be organized, detailed and care about providing the best service to the clients . If you are loyal, willing to learn, take initiative and diligent with tracking deadlines, this is the ideal role for you. For optimal success, this role will be a minimum of three days in office.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage the daily operation of three busy Partners in the Tax Department.
  • Ensure all files are organized, up to date and easily available
  • Prepare, complete and file all necessary documents within the Canada Revenue Agency and Tax Court of Canada
  • Accurately track and diarize deadlines
  • Produce the highest quality of work
  • Handle all administrative aspects
  • Onboarding of clients
  • Manage duties related to accounting and billing
  • Accountable for all work assigned
  • Takes initiative
  • Confidential

Core Skills and Requirements:

  • Three year’s previous experience as a legal assistant preferably in tax or litigation
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program
  • Handle time pressure situations and stress of multiple demands
  • Microsoft 365 suite of applications
  • Familiarity of the Tax Court of Canada Rules is an asset
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Good judgement and decision making
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Organized, resourceful, and detailed
